    ID plate marking

Here's a little bit of a trivial find. I was cleaning the back of an ADR plate and found a faint scratch marking of the matching PSN 1772.

It's hard to read in the photo, but very clear in person. I checked a couple other HJ Adelaide plates that I have around and they do not have this...

Most LC and LJ Toranas have the last four numbers of their VIN scratched into the back of them with a scriber if Adelaide built and probably other Adelaide models as well. But I definetly know this was done on LC, LJ Toranas. Brisbane were written in wax pen most of it dissapears with time. The current consensus is it was done so the ADR TAG went onto the right car when on the production line. I am sure somone could explain it better.

    Cheers Dave

Most Elizabeth vehicles have the last 4 x digits of the PSN on the back of the ADR plate. Acacia Ridge will have the last 3 x digits in texta.

This practice even continued into VL. I have a couple of examples with the last 4 digits in texta on VL compliance plates.

I'll see if I can dig out the pics of the other commodore ones I posted up on fastlane ages ago.

Edit: Found them in my photobucket account:

    Thanks people.
I didn't think it was special or out of the ordinary it does reveal the great *quality control* involved at GMH. I wonder if this process may have buggered up a couple times, especially on the Monday morning shift.
