    Tips to cean scale off ID plates

    I've tried a few things to clean the hard scale type crap on my id plates. I don't want to cause damage to them... any suggestions?

    tried coke, dissol, clr...

    Break fluid removes paint from Plastic It may also work on Alloy..
    Test on a junk one first

    alibrite (hydroflouric acid) and scrub with bristled brush.
    $10 from supercheap.

    then rince thoughly and polish with autosol

    tada!!!

    Isn't it always the way - when you no longer need it, something that was hard to get becomes commonly available?

    Allbrite was fantastic for cleaning the old cast alloy VB/VC SL/E rims (15" versions of the HZ SL/E 14" rim). It used to be real hard to get back in the 90s - I sourced it from a commercial cleaning supplies place.
    I agree with Adam - it worked well on wheels (didn't pit the machined rim surface), so it should do well on tags.

    Bought some and tried it out. It worked well so thank you for the tip, much appreciated.

    good stuff. It leaved allu quite dull. So use a prepsol or simular after and it will brighten it up.
