    Mooks dash

    I thought this would be an easy fascia to repair... just fill the choke hole and fix a broken mounting lug... but it seems nothing is ever easy when it comes to restoring old cars....



    On inspection once it arrived I found it had a severe bow out in the radio panel...


    I mean..... it is a really bad bow and the flat radio panel is also buckled...


    I have filled the choke hole and after a lot of gentle application of heat in the right areas I have managed to get it pretty straight... certainly a lot better than it was...

    Just need to weld in a new mounting lug and see what I can do about the broken off corner piece next to it....

    Radio panel straightened out..... a lot better than it was...


    A new mounting tab cut out and ready for welding in place


    A corner piece cut from another fascia in place ready for welding... this little piece was very fiddley and took ages to get right.




    Mounting tab and corner piece welded in and tidied up... a hairline will be visible on the corner repair but once painted will be hardly noticeable.


    Getting there Mook, a bit more involved than I thought it would be and I got roped into a BBQ on Saturday so missed out on a day doing repairs....

    I'm surprised no one has asked about the angled mounting tab yet..... I guess everyone knows about it...

    Painted with Portland grey paint, masked up and ready for black....


    Painted black and now masked up to paint the chrome border.
