HZ Sandman Van - 1978, Original, Jasmine Yellow with DY1 Stripes!

Been chatting with a bloke who's fixing up a van for a mate. Its a 78 model HZ. Original Paint. It was ordered with the DY1 stripes. Not DY2. Quite unusual. The current owner brought it in 1979. So it was basically new. I wonder if they where dealer fitted.

    Cheers
    Jason

NOTE: Current owner did give me permission to post this pic up for interest sake.

Hehe, that's why you can't rely on brochure pics for accuracy in restoring your Sandman. That is a Absinth Yellow HX Sandman that has had HZ parts added to it for the HZ promotional photo's.

Hate to burst your bubble but the decals on it are DY2 which were far more popular than the DY1 option. I have seen a few original yellow Sandman's with DY1 decals and most were utes.

No worries mate I was just going off what Jason said...

BTW, When I got my yellow from Johns Paint Shed at Hemmant the old bloke there told me that a few years ago the name got changed from absynth to absinth cause some-one in Korea spelt it wrong when the new paints came out and it went through all the computers for the weights of how to make `absinth` yellow.
I`m still sticking with absynth though but it`s good to see that you`re up to speed for when we want to get some paint made :D

Your old fella from Hemmant is telling stories...... It's spelt A B S I N T H on the 1974, 1975 and 1976 Holden paint colour charts, back then the paint was made here in Australia by Dulux.

I'll stick with the way Holden and the original paint supplier spell it.... ;)
