    New to site.

    Hi everyone,

I have been watching your friendly forum for a few weeks now and thought I would stop by to say 'hi' although I do not own a Sandman I do own a 76 Belmont van. It is originally from Tenterfield and was a one owner when I got it she was parked up under a tree. All original back then was the bench seat, 173 with no nonsense 3 on the tree, vinyl mat, no wireless or lighter but it did have the sunvisor, mesh stoneguard and cheescutters with cracks in the sidewalls all with 153 000 k's on the clock.

Now she has HX statesman interior, console, VY SS leather seats, 3:08 stato diff that I re configured to take the leaf springs, Turbo 400, 355 Chev motor. I have just recently put the air con in from the Statesman using a VL compressor, a bit tricky but got the job done.

I guess the next job now for her is a paint touch up, L88 bonnet scoop and bob tail that I have and decent wheels. I know you guys and girls like photos so I'll get to them soon.

    Regards
    J.D.

Post piccies, we love the photos here, maybe because some of us are illiterate and can't read anyway haha!

sounds like you got a bargain with your Belmont and to think it had sunvisor wow! what luxury.

Sounds like a nice old girl, will look forward to pictures. Not a Belmont though, the last Belmont commercial was built in September 1974 and the last actual Belmont (a sedan or wagon) was built prior to the end of HX!

Welcome Maysik, lot's of knowledgable people here, to answer any question's you may have. What they don't know, isn't worth knowing. Your van sound's really good., and as our fearless administrator said, photo's are great, the more the merrier.
    Cheers.

    New photos.

Hi guys thanks for that. Interesting to know about it not being a Belmont just thought because it was basic interior....... As for the sunvisor might go back on yet although I don't think I can afford losing the extra M.P.G the drag of it will create.

Actually HJ onwards for commercials and HZ onwards for passenger, always confusing for most! Belmont only existed for HK-HQ commercials and HK-HX passenger vehicles. Base model commercial was simply HOLDEN (as in HOLDEN ute, HOLDEN van) for HJ-WB ute/van and for HQ-WB cab-chassis. Next model step up was Kingswood ute for HQ-WB and Kingswood van for HX-HZ. The base model sedan/wagon dissapeared altogether at the end of HX and so the lowest spec HZ available as a model in its own right was the Kingswood SL. The bargain basic HZ Kingswood sedan and wagon became a "delete" package on the Kingswood SL, special vehicle package A9K or could also be ordered as special vehicle package A9Q (Kingswood Outback Package) or BO3 (Kingswood Taxi Package - sedan only).

In WB Ute was the Kingswood only available in the 1984 model?
