What a weekend....... I finished welding in the bit behind the r/h back wheel. I just have to make the folded section that goes back under the 1/4...
Cut out the only bit of rust in the gutter and repaired it....
Finished off the front apron...
And cut and tacked the rear beaver panel into place...

Is that a Rares rear beaver panel? How did it fit and how close is it to the original?

Yes it is a Rares panel. The fit is pretty good. I didn't have to do anything out of the ordinary to make it fit in the hole and I finished welding it in last night. There were a few dramas getting the bottom lip to meet up with the inner panel but nothing a few G clamps couldn't get over. The only problem with it, and I've already sent pics to Rares about it, are the lack of holes. There are no holes in it at all nor the recessed section that goes from the lower part of the panel up, and surrounding, the spare tyre winch hole. I'm going to cut that section out of my old panel and weld it into the new one.

Before....
After....
Nothing to report....the mig blew up last night :errf:...........so near but yet so far....I only had the right hand sill panel to go. Oh well, nothing left to do but ...until the new mig arrives at least.
Wahoooooooooo......Mrs GTS let me go put a new mig on the "never never card" today then told me it was my fathers day present ....it's all good except I'm not her father.... Oh well....who cares, I got a new mig. I finished off the rear beaver panel tonight and will soon be cruising down the right hand sill to the finish line.

Got the new mig sorted so I'm back into it. The new rear beaver panel didnt come with the recessed area around the winch hole so I cut the original panel and welded it into the new one.

Still not much happening...... and having the Man Flu isnt helping. A few things I've found while poking around may be of interest to some. I found a vertical crack next to the top door hinge bolt hole (The furtherst forward of the the 3) on both sides. These were ground out and then welded up.
Also, the holes in the door jam where the scuff plates screw on were flogged out on both sides. The drivers side had actually been drilled a second time next to the original hole but a few of them had broken through and made a figure 8 shaped hole. I welded all of them up and will be redrilling them once I get the point of fitting the scuff plates.
so..... where's the pics of the new mig?????
