Ebay and second chance offers........

I find these to be quite dodgey sometimes.

I just bidded on this one. Someone outbidded me.

less than an hour after it ended. The seller sends me a second chance offer saying the winner brought it by mistake.

Now click on the bid history. Then click on the winner. Yes the name is hidden. Click on his scrambled name anyhow.

You will see this "winner" has only ever bidded on one persons items. I asked the seller if this "winner" has ever brought from him before. He said NO. The bids this bloke has made on this seller and won are in green. So he has won 5 of his items. bidded on 4 of them in the last hour or so.

No point trying to fool an eBay veteran.

Good lesson here for the people not so into eBay. Be aware of second chance offers.

An ended item. The same "winner" of the holden item is also bidding on a ford part from the same seller. For good $$ too.

I wasnt going to reprot this to ebay. But think I will now.

Your offer price is now a whole lot lower than original I would suggest, teach them a lesson.

The seller claims to never have sold to this bloke. Now if someone had brought that much from you before I think your would remember!

hmmm, i have almost had it with ebay at the moment. People like this make it 10x worse for the honest user. I have had quite a few items go for far less than their actual value, maybe i should have pushed up the price with some dodgy bids... I WOULD report him stick.

eBay is a big place for me with my business. I dont need wanker like this stuffing it for others.

This is one reason why I list everything as a buy it now. That was you know your paying the exact price you should be.

With Buy Now does it reduce your overall (yet way too high) ebay fees? How do you find that buy now works on non new items? Would you say that you get a premium price for those items or do you price to sell?

I still remember the scuff plate extensions, you were right they did sell!

the system is flawed... its too easy to create a false market like this bloke clearly has. human nature dictates that you want something more when you can't have it, ie someone else bidding also wants it. the price gets pushed up and you'll almost always end up paying more than you wanted to. Im all for picking up the local rag, getting in the car and taking a look.

In my first ever experience I bought a set of race wheels for my road bike and they were completed f$%ed. I got my coin back but was still down $80 postage. Oh and i stressed a fair bit too :knockout:

Since then ive never bought on Ebay. Dont get me wrong, id buy from a reputable seller like Stickthis and Oz.. guys that are also doing business outside of the site.

Anyways thats my two bob on the matter.
