Casting sand in new intake Manifold

Inside new KC intake manifold, mostly in the top, and difficult to see because it had been sprayed over with silver paint, casting sand found.

I would imagine this casting sand woud destroy a motor in no time at all, we hope ours has not been hurt in any way.

Wouldn't think it would be enough to destroy a motor but it wouldn't be good for it. Is it solid clumps or does it crumble really easy?

Did they find that at the Dyno tune?

Yes Rodney and the dynotune guy, and Adam (our panelbeater) found it before they put the carby back on, just felt up in the inlet manifold to check studs didn't come through into the manifold void, and found this silver paint on fingers, then rubbed a little harder then became aware of the sand, there was various lumps of sand lodged in about 5 places.....:knockout:

Will be interesting to see what "KC" say about this. Not good enogh for the intake of an engine. Just leave your air cleaner off Jenny will do the same thing...... I would be making a very big point of it to the supplier. Also getting someone with a camera to check out the bores though the spark blug holes for any scuffing.

We spoke to our engine builder this morning, he has never heard of this happening before, and he will checking for scuffing when we go over to him. Rodney has left for dubbo to try and get it all back together again, they cleaned out the sand last night....

How dissapointing! Tim would have looked in about 3 million of those, had he ever seen that before?
Edelebrock may be the go instead of KC?

Tim nearly fell over, he was so disgusted in the way things are being built..He has not seen that before and Rodney is still over there trying to get it all back together, they have worked on it all weekend....he did say Edelbrock would have been better....very lucky it didn't get into the motor (we hope):Chin:
