Don't know for sure that the belts in my ute are original but have included a pic below - note I reckon the black plastic part used go all the way around the clasp but has long since broken up - only the bit at the base of the clasp remains... Looks similar to the ones from the Monaro LS brochure pic that Absinth posted but without the stalks and no plastic surounds?

Also had another belt lying around I think also from an HQ based on the pic's that Absinth has put up - have also included a pic.

    Thumbs up

Wow, thats why this site is so successful, cause of the helpful people on here!

AN5590 - Thanks heaps for the pics that made it so much easier to understand, i did notice thought that the pics have different belt type's as in the type of weving the straps are mad of, am i assuming right that the bottom photo with the Horizontal style of stitching is the older and more correct??

ABSINTH - Great pics buddy, many thanks and explained nice and simple too, can you help with the question on stitching pls?

GNW1974 - Exacttly what i neede to know, thanks for the help champ!

MAUSER - Were the stalks from the late HQ's like the Statesman different from the HZ and fit the buckle end of the std seatbelts? If you find out pls let me know, cheers for the help though!

Byron - Once again your just a wealth of helpful info! Thank you!

OZBOX - Thanks as well, if you want pics pls check my Gallery photos of the beast.

KIWIVAN - Cheers Bro!! Lovin it, cant stop drivin it!

JENNIE - Mum's the word, your awesome thanks for the help.

In short, good on the lotta ya, if anyone knows someone with a good set of Black Button GM seatbelts with the old school type of straps for sale let me know!

    Cheers,

Top pic is HJ style onwards webbing, the buckles pictured are for commercial vehicles and should be TRW brand.

Bottom pic is HQ and earlier style webbing.

Going on memory here but Greg will be able to confirm or deny..... :Chin:

yeh thats about right and to throw another into the game...there was 2 types of silver metal buckles..1 was a flat buckle and 1 was a wedged buckle...these i believe were plant specific...the wedged buckle as pictured was for brisbane built cars i believe and the flats were all others...or was it brisbane and adelaide that got wedged and all others were flat...or is all im waffling with only torana related?

    --- Updated ---

ok..things like this bug me when i cant remember but should so i went for a walk in the paddock and found a sydney built hq which had wedged buckles..so its the flat buckle for brisbane.

quite happy to have someone put there 2 bobs worth in if im still mixed up..

    --- Updated ---

now i remember..lj torana had flat buckles in the front and wedged in the rear if it was brisbane built and somethin else if it was adelaide..
    my head hurts...

Absinth you got me curious, had another look. Buckles have R.M.P Pty Ltd stamped on the back which would normally have been covered by the black plastic suround. Also found what looks like a date stamp on the shoulder/B pillar belt mounts that are 5 74 - any thoughts?

RMP is Rainsford..... they look like HJ but the webbing style could have changed late in the HQ run judging by the date.

In regards to the ebay link above. Is that a decent price for a set of them? It seems a little steep. :Chin:
