HQ Sandman Speedo's

I have in my collection
QD QW RC on the Fuel/Oil gauges
QK is the centre blank
QM on the tacho
RD and QE type Temp/Battery gauges.
I will have a newer look and see how these relate to dates on them as well.
The oct 79 one was a genuine replacement unit.

RC 3/73 Small font All of the above of these are stamped dates etc and have Holden and VDO on them
QW Small font Part no 2815736 on a sticker no Holden

QE 11/72 Larger font RD is 3/73 small font Both of these are stamped dates etc and have Holden and VDO on them
then I have a small font with a sticker 9931615 second sticker VDO 027813 or it could be 73
then I have a small font with a sticker 9931615 second sticker 10/79


The stickered ones I suspect are all replacement units

Not really.... speedo's got swapped out, re-built etc. Knowing the date stamped on the back is more usefull but only VDO speedo's have that.

Does anyone else have any speedo's laying around that they can check and post up the details for.

Got a chance to check an HQ speedo on the weekend from 2/72 ute - details were 2815729, 120 MPH, 12.71 and QA sticker. The clock space blank plate had a QK sticker if that helps with anything.

Will get the details of the speedo in my ute when I get a chance. I'm guessing that the speedo in the 2/72 ute could have been the original based on the dates.

I did notice the dash had the 200kmh speedo and not the 220kmh gts one.

I cant see if it has a console, if so what type.

If you happen to pull it out and it has a date on it could you let us know what it is please.
The outer gauges seem to be the small font type as well (so the later ones) if you check the dates on those as well they should all be fairly close to each other.

as I am yet to even see the ute I cant tell you, but it does gel with the 8/74 build date if what you say about the font is correct. I will now be interested in seeing what the dates are, regards Graham
