Extra chassis bit on HZ

they were standerd fit on hz and wb's
i owned a hz prem wagon with the plastic cover over the steering joint and a few parts that i had not seen on the other hq to hz's that i have owned and was asking my father inlaw about as he was working for a holden dealer around the time the hz was new and he said the wagon had the outback kit with was the cover over the steering joint to stop rocks from flicking up of the road and jamming the steering
when i see him next i will see what other items were in the outback kit

sounds plausible about the outback pack with the plastic thingo. Would think that sort of thing would be important in a concourse resto if anyone does one.

i think it was to to stop oil & such getting on the fabric coupling -far thing if you ever had one fail

As far as I know it isn't part of HZ XW5 (Outback equipment package). This was available on all models (unlike XX7 or XU3 which was available on 2 x models only!):

F72 Gross Load Equipment (ute and van only);
K45 Heavy Duty Air Cleaner (not with L31, L32);
D71 Rear Mud Flaps (only on 35, 69, 70 and 80);
T57 Front Mud Flaps

Feature changes (items with no option code) were:

Engine splash pan;
Rear shock absorber stone shield (60, 70 and 80 only);
Rear lower control arm mounting bracket re-inforcement (35 and 69 only).

Oddly enough, the only way you could get front and rear mudflaps as factory fitment was on an XW5. They were dealer fitted otherwise.

What is engine splash pan? Im guessing a guard under the engine to stop water comming up?? dont think i ever seen one of them always thourght of making one.

correct...im not sure that i have one here but ill take a pic if i do..i had a nos one but it went with my hq sandman when i sold it..

Greg, that good original HQ tonner had a fan splash shroud on it that looks factory too, not sure what it was either.
