    215s on 7s are about the biggest you want to go without the car tracking..anything larger ive always found to follow the grooves in the road and wear tyres.
    Thanks Greg. So 215s on a 7 inch rim are prob the best then? I might aim for that then or 225s depending whats out there.

    By 'tracking' do you mean when the front end seems to get caught in grooves in the road and gets a mind of its own for a few moments?

    I agree Oz, every one I have spoken to says it takes hours to mask them up so I think that is the best quote I am going to get. My existing ones gone done at a panel shop for $350 including blasting a couple of years ago and they are spot on but I think the bloke took pity on me and he did have a replica Valencia Sandman HZ ute in the driveway which is why I stopped in in the first place. It was like the cars were twins so I reckon I got a fantastic deal.

    yep..thats what tracking is..i use to run big rubber but it got too annoying so i dropped down in tyre size to get rid of the problem..

    i have found the best combos to be:

    14x6 = 215/65
    14x7 = 225 /65
    14x8 = 235 / 60 and 245 / 60 works well too..
    15x10 = 295 / 60

    I currently have 14x6 with 215/65 on the front and 14x8 = 235/60 on the back. But isnt it strange to have different profiles form front to back? Ie. 65 vs 60..? Or is that pretty normal?

    Cheers.

    Profile is sidewall height worked as a percentage of the width, so those two tyres nearly have the same sidewall height anyway.
