I'll have to check, he's had every model van bar the HJ. I know he's got old pics of some of the others.

    Ian's right...

I had a blond moment and forgot about Firethorn Red. Holden re-named Spanish Red for the HZ and Commodore range and yes the paint code is 10981.

Guys, with the codes..... 1189 in the trim code is Holdens code for exterior trim colour (paint colour) Spanish Red in HT and Firethorn Red in HZ. The paint code of 568-10981 ..... 568 is the code for a solid colour (not metallic) and 10981 is the paint manufacturers code for Spanish Red/Firethorn Red (Dulux I believe).

The 1980 date code is fine on the VIN as the new year for Holden started at the end of September from memory.... so it can be stamped with a 10-79, 11-79 or 12-79 build date but is classed as a 1980 model and so stamped on the VIN. A lot of people get caught out on that one....

I'd be willing to bet money it is a Sandman.....

Yep, it's definately a Sandman. 2000kg GVW confirms it.... Will be a very nice van once restored with one of my favorite combinations.... 308 4 speed, Firethorn Red with Buckskin interior.... very nice... a set of DY6 decals will finish it...

Well that's great news, but now the parts hunt begins and where to begin? make a list I suppose.

Did have a front spoiler too but super lows and steep driveways took care of that. I grew up in the back of this thing can't wait to get stuck in to it (gotta finish my toy first)

    Cheers Dan
