Tailgate Hinges - When did they change.

Origionally Holden Panelvans came with the neat, somewhat compact hinges on the tailgates.

and they had a small gap when opened...

Somewhere on the way to a '78 HZ they got ugly....

and have a gap big enough to drop your keys through....

Was this a HZ thing or did it happen earlier?

Why would there have been rubber bumpers on HQ then as the tailgate wouldn't fold right back down onto them with those type of hinges? RB

Another example of where (I think) it is of paramount importance that your products are labelled and marketed 100% correctly. Making a perfect repro is 75% of the work. Labelling and marketing it properly is the rest, it'll pi$$ customers off just as much if the part doesn't fit despite it being perfect for the next series! This forum, GMH Torana etc and the people in them are your best friend for this.

Greg, the HJ parts catalogue has early and late for the hoodlining colours and and some trim colours, this refers to early HJ as 74-75 models with late HJ being 76 models.... So my understanding is early HJ is up to end of Sept. 1975.

So... are you meaning by late HJ hinges as being end of 9-75 onwards or later in 76?

    Oops, correction as per below....
