Poke it with your finger. If it has flex its repo if there is little to no flex its probably genuine. If you put the 2 types side by side you will know.
Also the repo sounds very tinny compared to a thud when you close them.
from what i've seen non genuine t/gates (lower) usually have a number -symbol stamp on the inner of the t/gate
it depends which brand of non genuine as to the symbol...
i worked in the spare parts department of a large sydney holden dealer in 1981 and we use to have to take panels from holden branded boxes and peel the little gold made in taiwan sticker off them so they could not be identified as being produced offshore...
working on this revelation from 1981 all new tailgates from 30 years ago are actually made somewhere else other than oz...
