Value of a Sandman without all 3 tags??

Hey guys im lookin at an HJ Sandman in Persian Sands with side windows. Has all the GTS gear, bucket seats and full hood lining etc etc but saftey comp plate and long skinny middle plate have been knocked off at some stage (according to the seller!)

Just wanting some feedback on how this is likley to affect the value given it lacks identity..

This thread will sure create some debate. As far as I'm concerned its affected it's identity tenfold. It will definitely create some skepticism, and its got a right to do so. The tags are like its history. Take away the tags and car has lost its authenticity, hence affecting its value. I'd be really careful on this one mate. Unless you get it cheap...

PS. What you should do is try and take a few pictures of it and post them up on here. I'm sure members will be able to give you sound feedback as to what they think.

Personally, I'd take into account that if you ever want to sell you're going to get a lot of doubt on the originality of the van because of the lost tags.

At the end of the day tho, It all comes down to price and what you personally want.

Geez, I'd say the "Full Hoodlining" would be very hard to replicate. I'm not game to say impossible.

Agree with Robbo. Certain features like the full roof headlining would be hard to replicate...

How do you know its a Sandman? No tags means its just a van. There is nothing to even know if the chassis is a Sandman chassis.
The body could be a kingswood with full roof lining and there really is no way to ever prove what it is.

The answer to your question is very subjective to each individual.
To me it is worth the sum all the gts bits value.
The part that worries me the most is why is just the plates with the important data that id's the car for legal reasons gone and not the body ID.

I would not touch it.

That is only my opinion.

I'd buy it to repair a rusty one. Saves trying to fit a headlining into another HJ body (which is basically impossible to do without telltales)

has the steel hoodlining thing (look like teeth?!) above the rear tailgate but the material lining itself is missing

Kingswoods had that as well. Depends on how much rust as to the value. It may only be parts value or you could make it in to a mockup sandman.
