good to see your going down to the firewall.

Is it worth looking at going all the way to the dash line? Seems like a strange place to stop. Would be a pain to weld it where your planing to stop on the dash. This part of the dash is seen when the car is finished. Thin metal. So it is easily warped. Would be a pain to fit. Would still make it easier to go to the window line.

    Just an idea.

If you are going that far why not go the extra bit and make them as per original GMH. Trying to weld neatly along the dash panel with thin metal is not easy for the average punter and as Jason says that part of the dash can be seen through the glass.... I'd pay extra for a correct replacement panel and it is a common rust area..... I have seen dash panels rusted further up the inner dash than your planned cut off line....

Cav, please make the time and get this panel right. If it is a good fitting panel and as per original GMH replacement they will sell like hot cakes, get it wrong and you'll be no better off than the last one.

I am a mug DIY punter and found that it was/is a total pain in the ar#$ joining the short sections(after sectioning etc to make them fit to start with). Complete panel would certainly make life so much easier for me and would make me consider doing more in the future as this is the fiddliest bit on a ute to fie in my opinion. So in other words I would buy more than one if it goes all the way like original and will buy none if it does not.

Yep I say make the whole panel or dont worry about it. As the ones already would be just as easy... =)
