    Rocker Cover ID

    Hi all,

I've got a few sets of rocker covers lieing around, so thought I'd found out what is going to be correct for my HX 76 adelaide built sandman. Also generally interested in what the others are from.

The ones on the motor and the second one in the first picture are are HJ, LH or pre 6/76 LX. The pair in the second photo are HX, HZ, VB and ADR27A LX. The very first one is HQ.

If that is original paint (or original colour) on the second one down in the first picture I'd love to buy it off you. It's LH mate will have the tabs on the top like it does, but will have wiring tabs on it like the HQ cover at the top. The reason I want them is my HJ Premier has had it's rocker covers painted when the head gaskets were done 2 years ago, and I want so "35 year old looking" original rocker covers for it, that oil cap fits the bill for me too! I don't want freshly painted covers as they won't match the rest of the engine bay. Happy to pay decent $ for you or swap stuff that you might need.

Just had a better look, the ones on the motor might even do me better! They are definitely original paint i'd say, although they look a bit LH Torana-ish as HJ's have the breather on the driver's side front and PCV at the passenger side rear, Torana is arse about.

Cool, I just want some HJ ones that are in original condition and never been painted, hopefully with no major dents. Missing paint in areas no probs, just not surface rusty where paint has gone, just metal. It'll clean them up and baby oil them so they stay looking 35 years old. Just like the HJ 5.0L aircleaner I have. I got some 1st quarter 1974 Packard leads for it yesterday, getting a 3/74 7043284 carb rebuilt for it. Dr Terry is doing up a 4/74 big nut master cylinder for me. Radiator is in for an overhaul, have the NOS heater switch and got a heap of Utilux 1974 hose clamps off Greg yesterday, stripped ready now for cad plating. TH400 will be out next week, off for service, new torque converter turned up today. Gotta get some welch plugs for the back of the block and then in for a single 2.5" exhaust. Should be ready for rego by the end of Feb.

Assuming your car is not a very late HJ with ADR27A there is one loose one with this motor, you may be able to buy it separately:

Its a 5th month 76 van no adr27 its commercial. So i'm presuming its the ones with the two metal tags on top of each cover and the wire lug brackets on passenger side where the wire runs along side the inlet manifold

Yep, the ones in the photo above on an engine. Some 5/76 HJ's got HX engines but sounds like you are lucky not to get one of those.
