    GTS Steering wheels

I've been told there are different types of GTS steering wheels. I'd like to know more, especially with pics and maybe part numbers too.

What are the differences and are they series dependent or model? Also the horn caps were different from HQ to subsequent models yes or no?

HQ only had the Sandman badge in the horn cap.... HJ-HX are the same as HQ but blank, no badge.... HZ are a different shaped horn pad with the Holden Lion circular badge in the middle.

HQ GTS wheel center metal spokes are 5mm thick, these changed in later models to 3mm thick but it is unknown at this time when the change occured, I haven't checked parts manuals to see if the part numbers change..... may have to take a looksee.

Earlier models (HQ and some HJ) had thicker spokes, 5mm thick versus 3mm thick. Not sure when this changed. Someone else may know. HZ has the round GTS horn cap. See below. I am still trying to find an original centre piece that only shows part of the lion like the Rare spares one. All the originals I have seen have the full lion picture. Has anyone seen an original cap with only part of the lion showing?

So are the buckskin ones from the Statemans SLE only?

Every one I have seen with only part of the lion also has the raised plastic cover on it as oposed to a flat metal disc of the full lion variety.

    Check out this one:

Yeah, the Ebay ad is a load of bull to help sell it....... just about every part on there these days is Monaro, GTS or Sandman....... The coloured sports wheels are Statesman SL/E. Unless the HZ parts manuals are wrong????

Caprice had leather three spoke wheels........... SL/E had the same wheel as Sandman but were colour coded unlike Sandman and GTS which were black only.
