It was a local car until recently.....and a very nice one at that, although I agree with you about the marbeling. The trailer is a work of art.....if you look closely you will see that he has used a HJ/X/Z bonett skin to for the front panel.

Yeah nice looking van will be interesting to see how much it goes for, I rang the guy about it and when I queried him about the gts guards not being original he told me they were a order option new?? I have never heard this before but the guy seemed pretty definate about it.

in the 70s you could get the salesman to tick any box you wanted regardless of wether it was a factory fit or a dealer fit...unless he has that ordering paperwork though then you take it whichever way you choose too...

Now that I like! I like the marble facia on the instrument panel. Very unique. I really like how the marble facia theme has been extended to the interior of the engine bay blended with its original valencia orange. Cool touch! Shame the interior wasn't restored to its orginal condition though. Very ugly looking interior and the EVO seats. :Texas:

As for the guards. I too am highly confused. I wasn't aware of any order option for fluted HZ guards. Could people who know a little about HZ comment on this please?!

My Hz XX7 stamped ute looks to have factory original guards on it..
The guy i bought it off said he was second owner, and he told me the previous owner reckons he bought it as it was, GTS guards and all..
It also had N76 rims (SL/E statesman style)

dont dwell on your confusion too much rocker..it was the 70s and the salesman would do what needed to be done to sell a car..it worked like this...
hz sandman van came in without gts gaurds, like it should and then spare parts guys loaded new gts gaurds in the back of the van and took it too the local panel shop and they changed the gaurds.
i worked in a few ford and holden dealerships in the late 70s and there was some crazy stuff went on..:Rasta:
